The outside dog

Marisol had always wanted a dog, but grandfather said they had fleas and ticks and who knows what. (p.9)

     I read "The outside dog", a book in the I can read books series. Marisol and his grandfather found a brown mutt and she wanted to own the dog. However, her grandfather said mutts had fleas or ticks and he didn't let her own the dog. So, she tried to convince him.
     There are some difficult words for me in this book and they are not English. And I like cute pictures by Plecas, J. The conversation between Marisol and her grandfather of the last part  was very hart-warming.
