The promise

"This boy will grow up and become famous," she continued. "He will be well-known all over the world. He will give happiness to many people." (p.6)

I read “The promise". Pedro lived with his wife, Maria. They were very poor and they had a baby. They had had three other children before, but they had all died, so he was worried about the new baby. At that time, an old woman passed by and said to him, “This boy will grow up and become famous”. And she continued, “He will give happiness to many people”. Pedro and Maria never forgot the words of the old woman. The baby called Palito, and he grew up. He was very good at playing soccer, and when he was 15, he became a member of local club. A few years later, he finally became a member of the best team of brazil and His family became rich. But one day, he had to have an operation because of his twisted legs...
It was a little long book for me, but it was interesting and I was moved by it. I was surprised that the old woman’s promise really came true.
